1. Basic principles
These connectors are based on the following principles:
Centre distance of the contacts:a whole multiple of the basic grid as given in I EC Publication 97.Cross-section of the pin contacts:rectangular 1.6 mm x 2.5 mm (0.063 in x 0.098 in).
Location of the contacts: these are placed on a straight line and in order to ensure non-interchangeability between the various types certain contacts are turned through 90°.
The connectors with socket contacts are suitable for direct mounting to printed wiring boards.
The design of the connectors is such that they are suitable for use with apparatus where IEC safety
requirements (in particular IEC Publication 65) apply.
2.Contact patterns and electrical connections
The contact patterns and the connections of each type of connector are specified in Table I,page 11.
